BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF CENTRAL SOUTHWEST IOWA

In 2000 the “Adai-Casey Teen Organization” was incorporated and was located at the Adair Presbyterian Church. In 2002, we moved to our current location, donated by Bob and Judi Zimmerline. We then started the process of chartering with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. On November 21st, 2002, we became official members of the National Organization.

Founding board members of our organization were: Glen Rochholz (President), Mike Rochholz (Vice President), John Fisher (Secretary/Treasurer), Martin Fisher, Rev. Luther Flugstad, Debra Hollinrake, Elaine Rochholz, Judi Zimmerline, David Farley, and Rita Beatie.

Current board members of our organization are: Tim James (President), Sharon Martin (Vice President), Mike Noland (Treasurer), Kari Sneller (Secretary), Dari Grubbs (Safety Chair), John Fisher, Martin Fisher, Forrest Schnobrich, and Megan Irlmeier.

The original building consisted of the main program area, restrooms, cleaning closet, kitchen and pantry, which was the administrative office at the time. In 2007, a capital campaign started to expand the facility. Ground breaking was in 2008 and included the addition of the library, administrative office, and basement, nearly tripling program space. In 2023, another capital campaign was started to add the addition of a gymnasium, restroom, garage, and storage area. This project is currently under way and is expected to be complete by the summer 2024.

The Boys & Girls Club of Central Southwest Iowa is a chartered member of the Boys & Girls Club of America. As such, we have a mutual relationship with BGCA, including with our Director of Organizational Development, Mia Woods. We are required to function within BGCA’s constitution, by-laws, membership requirements, policies and procedures. BGCA membership requirements include an annual assessment; we must complete an annual report and must conduct an independent third party finical review. We send nominal national dues to BGCA annually, and in return receive numerous services including some funding, training, program services and various field services (finance, HR, technology, resource development, etc.)

Clubs can be found in cities, towns and rural communities, on Native lands, in public housing, and on United States military bases overseas. Some Clubs are large stand-alone (traditional) facilities (like our site); others are in schools, community centers or churches. Though all are members of BGCA, each Club is unique and every organization is an independent 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation governed by a local board of directors and led by a paid professional Chief Professional Officer.
